Position and characteristics of the vineyard
This wine is born in the best wine-growing region of Bujština, Contarini-Brazzania, where low yields per hectare allow for the production of premium wine characteristics. The vineyards are arranged like an amphitheater, making the most of the local climate and the mineral-rich white soil.
Vinification and maturation
Destemming and fermentation of the must in stainless steel tanks at a temperature of 18–25 °C for 20 days. Maturation takes place in oak barrels of various volumes (barrique, tonneaux, large wood) for 4 years, followed by 2 years of blending in stainless steel tanks.
Color
Dark opaque ruby red.
Aroma
An intense aroma of dark berries emerges immediately from the glass, primarily black currant. Notes of sweet wood, caramel, lightly toasted black coffee, dark chocolate join in, followed by black pepper, leather, and herbal undertones. The impression is of a dense and powerful structure.
Taste
The palate reveals a soft and warm wine, with intense flavors, strong tannins, and dense, concentrated fruit aromas. It also remains fresh and juicy. All impressions linger on the palate, with a gentle finish of sage leaf.
Gastronomic recommendation
Grilled red meat with a strongly seared crust and pepper pairs perfectly with this expressive wine. It is also a delightful match for rich “pašticada” with sage, and finally, try it with aged cheeses.
