The hot Mediterranean sun helps the grapes ripen, while fresh air constantly flows from the Alps and allows the aromas to develop properly.

It is interesting that Istria has several extremely different types of soil, and our vineyards are spread over two of the most famous ones.
All the elements, which are later found in the bottle, in your glass, have their source in the vineyard, and are created in always different conditions, which we carefully monitor. Recognizing the wines and their characteristics, we recognize the soil, environment and influences on the plant. The winegrower is that third element, which listens to nature, but also directs it. We pay a lot of attention to work in the vineyard, with an emphasis on grapes as our “raw material”, with a low yield per vine for top quality. On 17 hectares of our own vineyards, with a sustainable approach and transition to organic production, harvesting is done by hand to ensure the health and continuity of the vines.

Terre Rosse
Deep red soil on a calcite base, wind and water-borne sediment of a clayey nature, with proportions of iron, pyrite, calcite inclusions, is responsible for mineral, expressive wines. This vineyard stretches from the north side of the Bosco Grande forest, towards the west and the town of Umag, or the edge of the village of Petrovija. Only 2 varieties grow on the Terre Rosse position, and they are genetic brothers, Teran and Refošk.
Terre Bianche
On the stretch from Buje to Brtonigla, stretch the most valuable positions in Istria. Geologically, it is a very colorful, mixed landscape, with clay deposits on the sandstone slopes, permeated with calcite and flysch, and with its elevated positions, it is responsible for fresh, long-lasting, extremely mineral wines. The hills are located south to southwest, at heights of 130 to 230 meters. The “Terre Bianche” positions are divided into 4 vineyards, each with local names: Bomarchese (Malvasia), Ferné (Chardonnay), San Pellegrin (White Muscat), and Contarini (other varieties).
