Position and characteristics of the vineyard
The vineyards are located on the hills around Buje, at 220-250 m above sea level, in the position of Bomarchese. The ideal microclimate enables the production of grapes, which during ripening retain sufficient acidity suitable for obtaining the fruitiness and balance of the wine, and the mineral soil of the white earth supports drinkability with its distinct mineral notes.
Vinification and maturing
A week of cold maceration in a stainless steel tanks without fermentation, then the start of fermentation, the rest of the fermentation in used French oak barrique barrels. A year of maturation in French oak barrels, then 5-6 months of maturation in the bottle.
Color
Clear, shiny old gold color with a copper sheen
Smell
Ripe fruit and leather, followed by fruity notes followed by spicy and floral notes such as turmeric and elderberry. Dried apricot alternates with stone fruit, ripe pear, quince, with hints of vanilla dominate more and more. The scents are refined and clear.
Taste
The wine is fresh, warm, full of flavor, delicious and drinkable, the firm structure is supported by a light touch of crushed tannins, but the wine is liquid and juicy. Ripe yellow fruit is repeated on the palate, like a yellow apple in compote. After a juicy fresh wave, the finale leaves a clean mineral palate, and light hints of brandy aromas.
Gastronomic recommendation
This structured Malvazija pairs wonderfully with healty baked dishes, such as flavorful fish or poultry, especially oven-roasted pheasant. White meat in various sauces, as well as pasta or risotto with mushrooms.
